World Series Of Poker 2008

Anyone Can Become World Champion of Poker

The 17th of July 2007 is a day Jerry Yang will always remember. That day the 38-year-old American became world champion of poker. Yang turned over pocket eights and won a dramatic pot against Tuan Lam who sat with A-Q. Lam caught a queen on the flop, but Yang made a runner-runner straight to win the hand and the tournament. Yang and his noisy fans screamed out their joy, and the champion received the first prize check of $8.25 million.

Heads Up WSOP 2006

That famous victory is, however, already poker history. A new World Series of Poker (WSOP) is rapidly approaching, and in the 2008 WSOP you might be one of the lucky (and skilled) nine at the final table. Chris Moneymaker's amazing accomplishment in 2003 showed that any player can become World Champion. A totally unknown amateur, Moneymaker qualified for the WSOP through an online satellite and went on to win the main event. Needless to say, his life hasn't been the same ever since.
